KHAP PANCHAYAT, A Big Q: Is it right for Indian Traditional Society?

These days daily in the newspapers &  in the many news channels I m hearing this big questions- whether KHAP PANCHAYATS shud be eligible to take decisions on marriage?
If I know correctly,  this very issue came after honour killing @Haryana. I think its a quite difficult to take any decision for Indian society where more than 60% population lives in villages & a big part of that population believes on different customs, caste & religious traditions.

This very issue is somewhat deeper & according to khap panchayats- even inside the caste, the same gotras shud not be allowed to marry.

Although I believe that these KHAP PANCHAYATS are very important as they work for rural judiciary and solve so many disputes which most probably can't be solved by courts within such a short span of time. But I also believe that KHAP PANCHAYATS do not have right to give fatwa type decisions in marriages. Its violation of some one's fundamental right which allows them to get association on mutual agreement & get married.

I think that our Indian tradition from the ancient time supported the lovers and there are galore of marriages which were inter caste & inter religion. Yes its true that today we are losing our Indian culture but I think that if people are getting more freedom for marriage and association it shud be considered as a progress for society & its a new path which is the most suitable for new younger generation.

Although its little ironic but KHAP PANCHAYATS should chose someother dovelopment issues beyond marriage. They shud not be very rigid on thousand of years old tradition which needs a reformation now. Now we have crossed the 1 billion population where I think gotras dont have any more value.
Haryana is the very state where sex ratio is the lowest in India & they shud think that this is the very effect of these KHAP PANCHAYATS. Yes we need to preserve our old traditions but we shud also omit some evil things which are existing in the society which sopts our progress path & our peace.
