MNREGA: A successful Union Govt employment generation program

A group of Women working at place in Rajasthan

This act was introduced with an aim of improving the purchasing power of the rural people, primarily semi or un-skilled work to people living in rural India, whether or not they are below the poverty line. Around one-third of the stipulated work force is women.
One of the most distinguishing features of the MNREGA is its approach towards empowering citizens to play an active role in the implementation of employment guarantee schemes, through gram sabhas, social audit, participatory planning and other activities.

The govt. has to continuously ensure that the implementation should be very proper sothat the needful would be beneficiated.
